Dewclaws, who wants those?

For Christmas 2010 I went to California so Livana and Takoda stayed at the Bed and Biscuit. Well one day while staying there Livana decided she was bored playing with Takoda and wanted to play with the other dogs. She is not very patient so she decided to jump the fence of the run she was in and go into one with other dogs and play with them. The poor kennel staff must have freaked out when they didn't see her with Takoda. Well in doing so she ripped the nail off the quick on her right dewclaw. After I got home I kept an eye on it and it wasnt healing so I made an appointment for her to go see the vet. Livana was very happy to go like normal and they were happy to see her, other than it being since she hurt herself again. The best part of the exam was when the Dr asked if I wanted both to be removed or just the one then said "wait you'll just be back next week to remove the other one if we don't do it now". Boy does the vet know my dog. Even better is when they asked if I would be bringing her cone since she pulled her spay stitches out on the way home or at the vet last time (whole other story). Her paws have healed nicely. I ask her how she likes her new paws all the time and she wags her tail then licks the area the dewclaw used to be.
